A strong Helldivers 2 arsenal is built gradually, and Medals are one of the most important pieces of that process. Every operation can contribute toward future Warbond rewards, creating a satisfying connection between battlefield performance and long-term equipment goals. Players can use Helldivers 2 Super Credits to unlock Warbonds and then spend Medals earned through gameplay on the rewards inside them, creating a progression loop that encourages both experimentation and continued deployment.
The system works particularly well because Warbonds do not expire. There is no requirement to rush through a catalogue before a deadline, which allows players to focus on equipment that actually matches their preferred playstyle. A player who enjoys heavy weapons can prioritize one path, while another player may prefer precision rifles, defensive equipment, or mobility-focused armor.
This becomes increasingly useful as the Helldivers 2 equipment catalogue grows. New Warbonds introduce additional combinations rather than simply replacing everything that came before. Players can therefore build a collection that contains several different approaches to combat instead of relying on a single setup.
The current Illuminate Void provides an excellent environment for testing those approaches. The Devoid of Liberty update introduced new Void worlds with unusual environmental changes, new objectives, and mutated enemies. Squads may need to destroy structures, gather research materials, conduct reconnaissance, or create additional extraction opportunities while dealing with unpredictable opposition.
Because objectives can change the flow of a mission, equipment selection should consider more than raw damage. A weapon that is excellent for clearing an open area might not be the best choice when the squad needs to defend a confined location. Similarly, a powerful offensive Stratagem can be less useful if the team spends most of its time moving between objectives.
This is why experienced players often develop several loadout templates. One can be designed around aggressive movement, another around defensive operations, and another around heavy enemies. When the mission begins, only a few adjustments may be necessary.
Medals support this style of experimentation because they provide a route toward additional Warbond rewards. Rather than treating each unlock as an isolated purchase, players can think of a Warbond as a collection of tools that gradually expands the number of viable builds.
The Exo Experts Warbond demonstrates how dramatically equipment can influence those builds. The EXO-51 Lumberer combines a flamethrower with an anti-tank cannon, while the EXO-55 Breakthrough combines a flak cannon with a ballistic shield and shield-bash capability. Both offer powerful battlefield identities, but neither automatically replaces infantry tactics.
An Exosuit is most effective when the rest of the squad understands how to work around it. Infantry can clear enemies approaching from awkward angles, while the pilot concentrates on targets that justify the machine's heavy firepower. Good positioning also prevents the Exosuit from becoming trapped or separated from the squad.
The same concept applies to ordinary weapons. A player carrying a precision-focused weapon may not need to compete for every enemy kill. Instead, that player can watch for priority targets while teammates control the immediate area. Another player can specialize in crowd control, creating enough breathing room for the precision shooter to operate.
This division of labor makes Medal spending more interesting because each new unlock can potentially create another squad role. An item that appears unnecessary for one player's current build may become extremely valuable when the team experiments with a different composition.
The Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond offers another example of this growing variety. It includes the P/40-K Bolt Pistol and R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle, giving players additional options for both secondary and precision-focused combat. The broader Warbond system allows such equipment to become part of a long-term collection rather than a temporary event reward.
Another useful habit is saving Medals until the next desired reward is clear. Spending immediately can feel satisfying, but planned progression usually produces a more useful arsenal. Players can identify a weapon or armor piece they want, determine the preceding unlock requirements, and then work toward that target through missions.
This also encourages more thoughtful mission selection. Completing operations, Personal Orders, and participating in Major Orders all contribute to Medal progression, so regular participation in the Galactic War naturally supports long-term equipment development.
The best part of this system is that progression does not have to end with one successful build. Once a player has a reliable setup, the next goal can be creating something completely different. A precision build can become a close-range build. A solo-oriented setup can be redesigned around squad support. An ordinary infantry loadout can be rebuilt around an Exosuit.
U4GM can provide another convenient option for players who want to expand their equipment plans while continuing to develop their own in-game strategies. Keeping spending focused on useful progression targets makes the process more rewarding than simply collecting everything available. For players looking for a more budget-conscious way to support their equipment goals, cheap Helldivers 2 Medals can complement normal mission rewards and careful Warbond planning.
